Praia hosts African Ministerial meeting about Meteorology
Praia - 27 January - The Third Session of the African Ministerial Conference on Meteorology (AMCOMET) will be held on February 10 at the Palace of the National Assembly, in Praia.
According to the statement sent by AMCOMET, the aim is also to "consolidate and deepen previous work to further promote the effective use of weather and climate products and services that meet end-user requirements to help achieve the objectives of Sustainable Development ".
"The provision of services time, climate and tailored water is increasingly necessary to ensure food security, improved water management, disaster risk reduction and better health," reads the statement.
"In some African countries, climate-sensitive socio-economic sectors such as energy, transport, tourism and urban planning, already benefit from such services, however, further improvements need to be put in place."
The AMCOMET is jointly organized by the World Meteorological Organization (WMOUN), in partnership with the African Union Commission (AUC).
In the second session of the AMCOMET, the conference was attended by 38 African countries, 27 ministers and 127 participants, including technical experts forecast and climate communities and development partners. Full Article
