Ethiopia has been selected to be the new regional center, for the World Metrological Organization’s (WMO) Africa chapter with Addis Ababa being the base.The revelation was made during the 35^th annual World Metrological Day celebrated in Adama town, 99kms south east of Addis Ababa where, it also saw the inauguration of a 6 million Ethiopia birr (300,000 USD) air pollution control centre.The inauguration was made in the presence of officials from National Metrological Agency (NMA) and will be the second of it’s kind after Addis Ababa with later this year another one expected to be opened in Hawassa 275 kms south of Addis Ababa.National Metrological Agency is Ethiopia’s top body dealing with metrology providing sector specialized   services in aviation, agriculture, water resources, energy, disaster risk management and health.
