NiMet, US Agency Install Early Warning Weather Monitoring Equipment In Airports
ABUJA – United States agency and global provider of weather intelligence, Earth Networks, and Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) on Wednesday inaugurated the installation of early warning severe lightning equipment across airports in Nigeria.
Speaking during a kick-off ceremony of equipment installation in Abuja, Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu, the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of NiMet said the deal resulted from a formal request on the 18 August 2021, for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NiMet and Earth Network for collaboration. The NiMet boss said the objective of the collaboration is to support the capacity of NiMet to further develop its service offerings/delivery through working together to deploy EN Stations in various locations that will contribute to the Nigeria Total Lightning and Mesoscale AWS Network (NTLMAN) and enable EN forecasting services (ENcast).
